WORLDSKILLS CONFERENCE 2017 IN ABU DHABI

The countdown has begun to the 44th WorldSkills Competition, this October in Abu Dhabi. For the first time, the Competition will be held in the Middle East, marking an important milestone for WorldSkills and the United Arab Emirates. Vocational Education and Training (VET) leaders from around the globe will be in Abu Dhabi to witness the greatest skills competition, while also taking part in WorldSkills Conference 2017: Skills Strategies for a Globalized World, 16-17 October.

WorldSkills Conference 2017 will explore the issues and opportunities created through the fourth industrial revolution. Leading figures from industry, governments, international organizations, and academia will join together at WorldSkills Conference 2017 to shape the global skills agenda.

“As the world’s spotlight shines on the talent participating in the greatest skills competition, it is an ideal platform for global leaders to explore pressing issues and opportunities concerning the future of skills,” said Alexander Amiri, Director of Sponsorship & Partnership, WorldSkills International. “This year’s calibre of speakers and panel participants from leading TVET organizations to government Ministers reflects the heightened awareness of the WorldSkills movement.”

Key topics of discussion will include the globalization of skills and careers in an increasingly digitized world, and how that is creating a mismatch between jobs and skills. Panels will explore issues of labour force mobility and the constraints of existing qualifications to provide employment opportunities. Conference delegates will be invited to explore the specific challenges for skills in cities and combatting gender inequality in skills.

All supporters of the WorldSkills movement are invited to take part in the two days of panel discussions, key note presentations, and networking sessions. For more information on WorldSkills Conference 2017 visit https://www.worldskills.org/what/international-cooperation/conference-programme.
