On Monday 12 May, the Nord-Pas de Calais Regional Council named the winners of the official medals design competition for EuroSkills 2014, the European skills competition organised in Lille from 2 to 4 October 2014.

To promote the young talents of the Nord-Pas de Calais, and thus pay homage to the region organising the event, a partnership was signed between the Region and the Ecole de Communication Visuelle of Lille.Through a pedagogical project, the student-designers competed last February in the creation of graphic models for the medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze and Medal of Excellence). Alexis Vion and Maxence Cheval, third-year students at the Ecole de Communication Visuelle, won the competition. The medals will be awarded to the winners of EuroSkills at the closing ceremony on 5 October 2014 at the Zenith in Lille.

“Through these medals we chose to highlight France. Our initial idea was to work on a hexagonal shape. In order to make it more dynamic, we concentrated on the contours of France by extending the curves and counter-curves. France thus takes on the shape of the bust of a super hero. Evolution and progress are suggested in this project thanks to the volumes. Some shapes are carved into the material and others are in relief, which brings out France and especially the Nord region.” – Alexis Vion and Maxence Cheval, winners of the official medals design competition for EuroSkills 2014.
